Viking Boat and Volcano!

We decided that we wanted to do something today (Saturday) so the night before we went online and booked a Whale and Dolphine Viking Boat Excursion. We walked towards to the port area which was about 20 minutes or so walk from our apartment, of course we did take the scenic sea route. This was booked for 4pm so we thought we would go down an hour early to get some lunch. We eat at the restaurant right near the port and ordered chips, salad and Potato Bravas to share, a strange mix of foods but they were really good.

About half an hour before we were due to leave for our excursion, we made our way to the port and started boarding the Viking Boat. This was so cool, it looked very authentic (well according to all the movies anyway) and the atmosphere was exciting. I think the fact it was a nice hot sunny day really helped. Boarding didn’t take long and you got your picture taken when you got onboard with Viking accessories which was fun. Our excursion was for 2 hours, and we saw so many whales and dolphins and I saw a Turtle too, a big one which was just gorgeous.  There is definitely something to be said for being on the sea in a nice day, so relaxing.

We took a long walk back to the apartment and decided that we would get ready and head out to dinner. It was a Saturday night and we didn’t book so we knew we might struggle to find somewhere to eat (gluten free) but thought we would try anyway. One restaurant we tried looked very Spanish and was busy which unfortunately meant we were not able to eat there that night. We carried on walking around and came across a restaurant that was quiet and wasn’t busy at all. We did um and ah about it at first, but we choose to eat here anyway. The waitress was very nice and took our order quickly which I always find nice.

We had melon with ham to start and then chicken, chips and salad for our main. The food was all very good, and the service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is called Tasty and honestly, I would recommend it. It was close to the beach too so it’s a bonus. We walked back after this as we really wanted to walk to a volcano the next day that was close to our apartment and we figured a rest beforehand was needed.

The next morning, we were well rested and ready for walk to the volcano, the sun being out and it being hot just made this so much more exciting. The walk took around an hour to get there and the views of mountains around was lovely. It didn’t take long to get to the top as it wasn’t a big volcano but the views from the top were stunning, you could see for miles and even the port from yesterday’s Viking boat. We did read before we left for our walk that there is supposed to be a hermit’s camp in the middle of the volcano, there were different comments about this and the person and their dog who live there. We can confirm that there is definitely someone living there judging by the home, but we never saw the person or their dog.

After we got back from the volcano we decided to go to the beach to get the last bit of sun as we were leaving the next day, it was still hot but cloudy sadly but we still went. We only spend about half hour there, but it was still nice. We had booked a restaurant for our last night, it was a Spanish style restaurant which was what we were looking for and we were looking forward to it. The restaurant was busy, so we were glad we booked in advance.

Unfortunately, we didn’t really enjoy the food here! It’s not that it was bad as it wasn’t, it’s just we have eaten at a few Spanish restaurants and sadly this didn’t leave up to the hype it had online.

We headed back to the apartment after the meal and sadly started packing as we had to leave for the airport about 9am the next day. The journey back home was as expected and there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Looking back at the holiday now, it was one of the best ones I’ve had that I genuinely wasn’t expecting. Because of this, I would definitely go back and around the same time as we did this time, it was just brilliant.
