Dreaming of some Winter Sun

It’s cold!! That’s what we thought and then decided that it’s time for a winter sun holiday, but where will we go and what will we do?
After loads of back and forth (beach holiday, walking holiday, a bit of both etc) we decided that actually, we wanted to do something completely different and what we haven’t done before. That conversation brought us to A Naturist holiday and some laughing with intrigue, excitement and a lot of fear.
Having not done anything like this before we didn’t know where to start. We needed to pick somewhere we could go in Europe to do this (cheaper for us as we live in England), which to be fair turns out to be a lot to choose from. We needed sun, heat, shops, exploration and somewhere that didn’t seem so scary to have our very first naturist holiday.
Fuerteventura was a place that got mentioned as we had been to Tenerife and Gran Canaria not that long before and wanted to explore the island and see how different it was to the others, if it was different of course.
Right, so we have picked Fuerteventura as our destination and all we need now is the accommodation, how hard can this be? A google search would show that there are a few places we could do this here and then there was some that just offered adults only hotels, not mentioning naturist at all.
We both looked at places and read reviews (as you do) and my husband then showed me a place which looked like a villa in a street with other houses. My first glance and I thought no, no I can’t go there, what would the neighbours say! But when we looked into it a little more it started to feel that actually, this could be perfect.
There were four rooms within the villa and 2 cabins in the garden, this means that there won’t be many people there and I for one was happy about this as it’s my first and maybe only time trying this and was glad when my husband agreed. Okay, so now we know where we want to go but how do we book? I checked the website and found an email address to check availability, so I email them. There was a part of me that thought we wouldn’t get a reply and would be happy we tried but a few minutes later we had an email.
The email was from the host and was friendly and helpful and provided us with the dates that the rooms and cabins were available. We were originally looking for mid-end February (apart from around the 14th, nobody likes paying more money just because it’s Valentines Day!) but unfortunately there was nothing available. We did however notice that one of the cabins was available the first week of February, we thought about it for a little while (like maybe a whole ten minutes) then emailed back asking if we could book these dates.
The host was lovely and we were able to book, pay deposit, then the remaining amount and have everything confirmed all on the same night. We then booked our flights (with Ryanair of course) and that was it, everything was booked and we were ready for our never-done-before holiday which was now only a week away. All that was left was to decide what to pack for this 5 night break to a Naturist resort in Fuerteventura, bikini, shorts, skirts, tops and wait, do we need all that if we are going to be naked? I mean, what the hell do you pack for a holiday like this! It’s not like we were planning to stay there all day everyday anyway, we had an island to explore a little too which meant we needed clothes too. Oh no, it’s just started to hit me, we are actually doing this!!!
The morning after booking our holiday at a naturist resort I woke up feeling good knowing that no alcohol or anything was behind our decision for booking this, it was all us, that wanted to try something new that lead to this. Oh crap!!!
As the days and night ticked by and holiday time was catching up to us, I at least, was starting to feel a little anxious but was also relieved that husband was feeling the same. It was scary to think that me, who cannot be the only person to go topless on a beach (I won’t do it otherwise), was about to be getting in my birthday suit in front of who knows how many people for 5 days. I was very glad to be having my husband going through this with me.
So, we got to the night before our early morning flight and we had finally packed and had our clothes ready for the next day. I thought about the beaches we could go to, so I had to make sure I had bikini’s (yep, 2) and shorts/skirts for our walks and tops and even a travel beach towel because you never know what to expect. My husband packed his shorts (swim and casual) and tops and we had our jeans and hoodies ready, sounds silly when going somewhere warm but England on a February morning is very cold. No sleep for us that night, we were leaving too early the next day so decided to stay awake. Flight time and our flight was not very busy, and my husband managed to get a little sleep on the plane. I did not despite feeling tired, I must have been excited, nervous, anxious and well, crapping myself about what’s to come, let’s be honest.
